Shot by Tom Ford in Los Angeles and featuring models Karlina Caune and Simon Van Meervenne, the Sping/Summer 2013 Ad Campaign is now available for your viewing pleasure. The new campaign broke on the TOM FORD website and official Facebook page and will run internationally in March and April books.

It has become pretty easy to predict which stars are likely to wear TOM FORD to an awards ceremony like the Golden Globe or Academy Awards. The usual suspects are Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Daniel Craig, Bradley Cooper and Brad Pitt.  Maybe Anne Hathaway.  The men are easy to narrow down because once you go Tom Ford there is no going back: no one does a tuxedo better.  Most actresses, on the other hand, aren’t wed to a particular designer. Julianne Moore is an exception to that rule and frequently wears gowns designed by Ford.

This is why it was no surprise to see who wore TOM FORD to the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 13, 2013.

We have the lovely Julianne Moore in a stunning custom draped back black and white gown in stretch silk georgette.  Rumor has it that Moore sent a quick email to her good friend Tom  and asked him to come up with something for her to wear.  This elegant gown is the result. Moore accessorized her look with a black nappa panama weave clutch with gold metal band and ankle strap evening shoes in black patent ribbon and mesh.

Congrats to Julianne on her win for Best Actress in a mini-series or TV movie for Game Change!

Next is James Bond Daniel Craig mixing it up in a  navy tuxedo with a grosgrain lapel, evening shirt, silk bowtie, silk pocket square and patent leather shoes.  Classic Ford. Tom Ford. His best accessory?  Stunning wife Rachel Weisz.

Then we have Bradley Cooper wearing a Tom Ford for the Green Carpet Challenge tuxedo with a grosgrain lapel, evening shirt, grosgrain bowtie, onyx studs and leather lace up shoes. Cooper is the latest celebrity to join Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge (GCC).  His custom tuxedo was made from OEKO-TEX® certified, low environmental impact, European spun and woven wool suiting.  If only that bowtie was a teensy bit bigger…

Added to the TOM FORD list this time around was Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo wore a black tuxedo with a notch lapel, evening shirt, silk bowtie and evening shoes. Very debonair. Bradley should take bowtie lessons from Leo. Perfection.

And of course Steven Spielberg, pictured with wife Kate Capshaw, who wore a black TOM FORD tuxedo with a silk tie, evening shirt and leather shoes. I still can’t believe he didn’t win Best Director for Lincoln. Robbed. Robbed I tell you.

Who do you think wore TOM FORD the best at the Golden Globes? I love Julianne’s dress and I think Leo worked that tuxedo like no other. My only complaint is that my Homeland crush Damian Lewis didn’t wear TOM FORD as well. That would have been perfection.

Anne Hathaway decided to go 50 Shades of Bondage-y for the December 10th New York City premiere of Les Misérables. She arrived at the Ziegfeld Theatre wearing a long black taffeta cape-back dress and black knee-high bondage boots, both from the TOM FORD Spring/Summer 2013 womenswear collection.

So far the reviews of her look have been mixed: people either love it or hate it. Personally, I don’t think it’s one of her best. Her make-up and hair? Beautiful. No question. Her jewelry is simple which is a nice contrast to her footwear. Most of the commentary seems to be focused on the custom vegan boots—which I happen to LOVE—but many seem to think they are too risqué for the red carpet. I don’t have an issue with the gladiator boots themselves (I love every bondage-y thing about them) but I am not a fan of the gown.

I know, I know.

I am actually saying I don’t like something by TOM FORD.

It’s true. I have mixed feelings about the gown. I love the front. It’s deceptively simple. Clean lines. Gorgeous fit. I loved it when I saw it in the Spring/Summer 2013 Lookbook.

I think where the gown goes wrong is the cape-back combined with the taffeta material. It just doesn’t look clean. The gown looks like a hot mess from the back.

Let’s just do a quick comparison to the TOM FORD dress that Naomi Watts wore a few weeks back:

Look at the way Naomi’s dress flows… you can just feel the movement in her sleeves. And who can forget Gwyneth Paltrow’s cape at the Oscars? Pure TOM FORD perfection. In contrast, the taffeta in Anne’s cape-back just looks… wrinkled.

What do you think?  Am I being too harsh on Anne’s dress?  What about the boots: yay or nay?

I get a lot of emails from readers who either need help tracking down specific TOM FORD apparel and other products or who simply need recommendations on where to purchase TOM FORD online. Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are upon us I thought this might be a good time to give you a rundown of some online retailers who carry TOM FORD products. As an added bonus, I also included any special promotions they are currently running that can be applied to a TOM FORD purchase.

A few notes:

• Most online retailers only carry TOM FORD eyewear, accessories and beauty products including fragrances.
• Apparel is more difficult to find and although there are some online options your best best is a visit to a TOM FORD boutique.

You know how it is virtually impossible to buy anything other than TOM FORD accessories, footwear and eyewear online?

I am not talking about shopping ebay for what may or may not be authentic TOM FORD designs. I am talking about shopping a reputable online retailer that guarantees authenticity.  I am talking about the ability to buy the gowns and dresses that we covet like crazy each season without having to leave the comfort of your own home.

I am talking about something we never used to be able to do… until now!

Now—before you get too excited—let me preface this by saying if you do live near a TOM FORD boutique you should absolutely go to the store itself and not shop online for these items.  Shopping at TOM FORD is an experience in itself and it’s one you shouldn’t pass up if you have that option.

If, however, you have no other recourse, you can now purchase a limited selection of TOM FORD womenswear on FarFetch. I’ve shopped FarFetch before and, given that they specialize in boutique items, it makes sense that they would be the first to offer a selection of TOM FORD womenswear online.  Choices and sizes are extremely limited, but they include Gwyneth’s stunning Oscar gown and cape (here), the always popular zip cocktail dress (here) and a beautifully simple draped back dress (here).

The beautiful Naomi Watts caused quite a stir at the November 19th London premiere of her latest film, The Impossible, when she arrived at the BFI Imax wearing a daring gown with billowing sleeves and an exposed back. If the gown looks familiar to you it could be because this was one of the standout pieces from the TOM FORD Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear collection. Watts paired the cady kaftan dress with TOM FORD python padlock ankle-strap pumps and managed to look elegant and edgy at the same time.

I was surprised when I first saw the images from the premiere because I hadn’t realized quite how exposed the back and sides of the gown are until now.  Now that I’ve seen it in it’s full glory I love it even more… and I applaud Naomi for wearing it with class and avoiding any sort of mishap with it.

I think Naomi owned it. What about you?
