The TOM FORD Spring/Summer 2015 Womenswear Collection premiered in London on September 15, 2014. While the amazing fashions (and nudity) were undeniably the talk of the town, the rockstar chic look created for the show by makeup artist extraordinaire Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Sam McKnight made plenty of headlines on its own.
Mr. Ford asked Tilbury and McKnight to come up with a look that was “expensive and cool.” The end result? A dark, gunmetal smokey eye, nude lip and touseled, shaggy hair.

Tilbury herself describes the look as “modern, expensive, and inspired by rock legend Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders.”
Some might also say it was inspired by long-time Tom Ford muse Carine Roitfeld:

So, how was it done?
SKIN PREP AND BASE
Tilbury and her team began by prepping the skin with the TOM FORD Beauty Intensive Infusion Ultra Rich Moisturizer and concealed any imperfections with the recently released Concealing Pen.
The goal here was a flawless and natural looking canvas that would allow the eyes to be the star.

THE EYES
In order to create the sensual, sultry, smokey eye, the lashes on each eye were first curled for 10 seconds.
Now, this is where it gets good.
The cream shadow.
The same gunmetal cream shadow was used to create each of the looks in the image below.
The cream shadow was applied to each lid and blended out towards the brow bone and into the socket. The Eye Defining Pencil in Onyx was used along the lashline and waterline and then softly blended into the cream shadow. The look was completed with multiple coats of Extreme Mascara in Raven on the upper and lower lashes and the Brow Sculptor in Taupe.

It will launch as part of the Spring 2015 Beauty Collection and is so new that it is still unnamed. I have heard some reports that state two new cream shadows were used and layered on top of one another (a khaki and a black) but my sources tell me it was a gunmetal cream shadow. Either way, the shadow is forthcoming and won’t be available for a few more months yet.

LIPS
In order to both compliment and highlight the sultry and bold eye look, the lips were kept simple. The perfect nude – Private Blend Lip Color in Vanilla Suede – was applied right from the bullet.

CHEEKS & NAILS
The Vanilla Suede Lip Color was also used on the cheekbones to perfect the look while nails were kept muted with a coat of Toasted Sugar.

HAIR
This look was all about the eyes and hair. You can’t be a rocker chick without shaggy hair and major side-swept fringe! All 26 models in the show wore wigs that were razor cut and dyed to match their own roots and skin tone. Hairstylist Sam McKnight used a variety of volumizing products to complete the look, including Batiste Dry Shampoo, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, and Bed Head Queen for a Day Thickening Spray.
